My name is Bradley and in this day and age, blogs are becoming more and more outdated. With the rise of social media, AI, and real-time updates, blogs just feel like a thing of the past. In particular I looked at Oprah's blog and Yahoo Sports. When looking at Oprah's blog, it just seemed like it was a big ad fest for her and her products she sponsors/owns. Yahoo Sports just seems like all they want is to be another ESPN and have ridiculous articles for clicks!
Social media like TikTok, X, Instagram, and so many more have changed how we as a society now engage with information. For example, after looking through Oprah's Blogs and not only seeing minimal writing and only visually appealing posts, I can't even access them! You need a subscription to actually read the article so it's just a blurry mess, but from what I can see it is a short blog post and it has big fonts mostly. Also big, huge pictures take up most of the so-called "blog". You can now get more information on Oprah through her social media accounts. View https://www.oprahdaily.com/life/a65489407/oprah-intention-hoffmanprocess/ to see what I'm talking about with her minimal effort blogs.
AI has now basically taken over the world, just not in a bad way 🤖. It makes blogs feel more and more unnecessary. Why get any information from a blog when you can ask your phone the question or information and get an answer. Yahoo Sports is the perfect example of this among other websites. Let's get the other things out of the way so I can get back to my point. Yahoo Sports website is now just built the same way as the app, they care more about clicks and views than actual truthful stories, it seems more outdated than most other sports websites. Now I could get into all of that more, but we are going to get back to my point: when you watch sports or want to know a score or anything about a sports game, most people just ask there phone. That's AI at its finest and why would anyone wait for a blog post or to wait for the website to adjust for the game when they have apps and AI at there fingertips. Even real-time updates, like I said earlier as well, people don't wait to see what's going to happen to the star player or a major trade. They have real time updates, not a silly blog post.
In conclusion, while I do believe blogs once served an essential purpose and role in the way we consumed information, it now feels more outdated by faster more efficient and convenient ways to get the same information. I do believe blogs whether it be for sports, recipes, or getting information on a person can still be efficient, just more outdated. The blogs are just getting outpaced by social media, AI, and real-time updates as even the blogs themselves such as Oprah and Yahoo Sports have shifted and started focusing on this new wave of technology. As the digital world shifts more and more towards the new wave of technology, blogs have and will continue to become a relic of the past, outdated, and unnecessary.
